Wired News: Baseball Hits a Homer Online

With these web sites doing so well in sports, maybe it's time to not only think about the Olympics, but
the Paralympics,
as well. That's an incredible idea, even if I do say so myself. More on this later

In Memory of Jesse Gamble.

In Memory of my good friend Jesse.

My very good friend Jesse Gamble lost his life while fulfilling his dream to go to Ghana West Africa. It seems Jesse was having the time of his life, when suddenly tragedy struck.

Of all the twists and turns life has to offer, Jesse was able to overcome every one of them with his wonderful sense of humor and a quiet elegance

Jesse
On a personal level I will miss him deeply. There was so much we had in common, so many things we shared, it’s hard to imagine not being able to discuss the goings on in our lives.

Jesse, until we see each other again, may God’s angels keep you always in their midst. Our friendship will endure forever, and for that, I’ll always be grateful. Love you, man

Wired News: RIAA Bags 493 More Swappers

Here we go again, the RIAA Bags 493 More Swappers. It isn't enough that we must endure extremely high prices in the record stores, or, the fact our courts are being tied up by these ridiculous lawsuits. As you probably know, the RIAA has successfully sued "nearly 1000 file sharers" now. Instead of picking on the very people who make the
recording industry

Posted by Hello what it is, they should be using file-sharing technology themselves. The money they'd make would far surpass any revenue made from lawsuits. Of course, they would make the argument that it is a matter of principle as to the reason they're going after people. I know they have a point, but it seems to me that it's more about laziness than anything else. I mean, the technology is there for the taking. It's not as though there is no other recourse to resolve their problems. If you have read this ongoing saga, you'd know there are many factors that go into why the RIAA Posted by Hello
recording industry says it's losing money. File-sharing just isn't one of those factors.

BW Online | May 24, 2004 | Online Extra: Michael J. Fox's Take on Stem Cells

Michael J. Fox's Take on Stem Cells makes a lot of sense. This is an issue I've been thinking about, especially lately. I actually just spoke to my brother about donating his stem cells to me if we were a close match genetically. I was just thinking about using his stem cells to inject into my diaphragm to see if it would strengthen. A research scientist I e-mailed sometime ago gave me a name for that procedure -- I don't remember what it's called -- but thought it to be a good idea. It was good to hear what Michael J. Fox had to say about

Mercury News. Firm Flexes Its Artificial Muscles

Firm flexes its artificial muscles is an excellent article. I can just imagine using this technology for all sort of things. Maybe it would replace bulky ventilators, respirators, and the like. For someone like me, whose respiratory system is compromised, an artificial muscle that can assist my diaphragm would be just what the doctor ordered.

Finally, I can say with certainty that I know what happened to my ancestors. They were annihilated! Really, though, this is an amazing claim. I have often wondered - when looking at

This is great news ! I've been using blogger for a while now and the ability of people to post comments is definitely a plus. One of my problems on my site ChooseAbility.org is visitors have trouble posting comments. Maybe it's time for me to rethink the way I do things on my site.

Wired News: How the Word Gets Around

It's interesting how blogs spread. The idea of using a meme to see how that happens is definitely a good one. If I thought that my website can catch on like a virus, it would be fantastic. Of course, I would have to make huge improvements in order for it to propagate throughout the online community. I believe I'm ready for the task.

As someone who knows many people that suffer or has suffered with diabetes, this news is exciting. The way scientists are moving forward with stem cell research, it seems there is no end to what can be accomplished. Maybe they will find a way to also detect cancer of the pancreas with this same method. My grandmother and two uncles died of pancreatic cancer. Stem cells
Stem Cellare being used for so many things, I can't help but wonder when stem cells can be used for people such as myself - I have muscular dystrophy. Right now, I am looking into whether or not I can inject adult stem cells into my diaphragm in order to strengthen it. I was thinking about my own stem cells in my bone marrow, or to use stem cells from my brother who is closest to me in age.
