Obama's plan welfare? McCain, more of the same!

Here we go again! John McCain said yesterday that Barack Obama's tax dollars (government money) will be used to pay for people who don't work. "That's called welfare", he said. Well, what do you call cutting taxes for corporations who have been raking in billions of dollars in profits lately? It's called, "Corporate Welfare"!!! The people who need help the least get tax breaks and the ones who need it the most get screwed. I thought we were past the days when Republicans talk about their tax dollars going to people who collect money from entitlements. It wouldn't be that way if it weren't for the way entitlements are set up. That's why entitlement programs need to be reformed. I have some ideas on how to do this.

Stay tuned!

YouTube - Keith Olbermann special comment - Sept 4th 2007

MY NEWEST HERO -- Keith Olbermann's Special Comment.
I Have Been Looking to Find a Way to Get the "Power of the People" to Hit the Streets All over America to Protest the Iraq Fiasco Which Is George W. Bush's So-Called War. I Cannot Understand Why People in America Are Not Hitting the Streets Every Single Day to Express Their Outrage about What Is Going on in Iraq. If Only We Could Get Every University To Play These Special Comments by Keith Olbermann. His Comments Have Been Extremely Powerful! We Should Use These Videos to Try and Take People Out Of Their Comfort Zones to Exercise Their Right to Protest Against Injustice. It Was Martin Luther King Jr. Who Once Said, "If a Man Has Not Discovered Something That He Is Willing To Die for, He Isn't Fit to Live".

All We Are Saying Is, Give Peace a Chance.
Power to the People!

We Should All Choose Ability

Whether you live with a disability or not, we should all choose ability. It's a no-brainer -- don't you think? That's what this blog is all about. It would be great to hear from as many people as possible. Tell me what it means to you to choose ability -- even if you think it is self evident by the word (ChooseAbility) itself. Let's all partake in living this life the best we can! I challenge everyone who reads this blog to participate in pushing everyone they know to choose ability.

History Made at State of the Union address

Last night, as the State of the Union Address got under way, George W. Bush paid tribute to the new House Speaker. For the first time in our history, sitting next to the Vice President, with gavel in hand, a woman by the name of Nancy Pelosi presided over the proceedings. It was one of only two highlights in the entire evening that may have been enough to turn what could have been a total disaster into something memorable.

This was the President's sixth State of the Union address, and it was probably his poorest speech to date. Some of the words used to describe his speech by reporters on MSNBC were, subdued, somber, etc. It was apparent that there was a timidity in his delivery, a weakness, if you will. Some said that he seemed to be carrying a heavy weight on his shoulders in terms of the war. It is unfortunate that he is still trying to bunch the Shiia, Iran, Hezbollah and the rest of the players in the Middle East together, and also how he shamelessly is still trying to tie the war on terrorism with the debacle in Iraq.

The next best thing to his introducing of Nancy Pelosi was towards the end when he introduced Motumbo, the Iraqi soldier who was a hero, as well as New York's favorite hero, Wesley Autrey. It was enjoyable to see how much Mr. Autrey was basking in the moment. Some say President Bush was exploiting him for political gain. It is doubtful that that was the case, however, if that was the case, you can bet the American people are smart enough not to fall for it.

Saddam Hussein Hanged

This Just in! Saddam has been put to death. The once feared Iraqi dictator was executed by hanging. It was said that Saddam showed fear in his eyes. All I can say is that we should all expect things to get worse in the near future as the Sunnis will probably say that Saddam Hussein is a victim of the Shi'ites. Maybe I will be wrong -- we shall see.

Hello Everybody! I'm Back in Business.

After more than five months of being idle, I am back! I hope to be bringing back some of the magic I enjoyed for about two years. I want to bring you the latest in New Technology, Science, interesting stories on how people choose ability every day, and why people with disabilities deserve the respect and acknowledgment that goes to any group that is moving forward. You will also see lots of stuff on the Paralympics and any other disability sports I can get my hands-on. It is through disability sports that the disability community will move ahead taking giant steps towards equalizing the playing field. See you soon!

We are... moving hooseAbility.org

Hello everybody, you have probably noticed our site has been down for a little more than a week. We are in the process of moving chooseAbility.org.We are sorry for this inconvenience. Although we have over 60 members, there are only a few members contributing to the site. We would like to thank those who have contributed from the bottom of our hearts. Pretty soon ChooseAbility.org will become a blog -- a smaller venue -- but just as important. We want to be clear! Everyone who contributed can still contribute. We will be sending all of our members an e-mail inviting them to continue contributing. Hopefully, things will begin to happen so that we can grow and become a force for the disabled community. Again, we thank all of you for your participation. Be sure to continue checking out Paul Campos weblog on chooseability.org.

"Murderball" mini movie review

MURDERBALL mini review

by Paul Campos

I went to see " Murderball" and I must say it was pretty good. It was nice to see a movie that is both entertaining and imformative. Playing the game of Rugby in wheelchairs especially built to withstand any serious punishment is quite interesting to witness. More than that however, the human interest part of the story is even more compelling. In this movie the main theme focuses on how people deal with the obstacles that can get in our way and how ones own perceptions effect whether or not we succeed. I highly recommend this movie to everyone, especially anyone who is curious about how people with disabilities function in all aspects of life; not excluding sexuality.
