Wired News: U.S. EBay Seller Refuses Canucks
This is the most ridiculous story I've heard. To deny this person the right to purchase something on EBay just because he lives in one of the countries that disagrees with our going to war without the UN, to me, is just silly. The man just wants a printer. Give the man his printer!

Wired News: War Hack Attacks Tit For Tat
From article:
The recent tit-for-tat attacks prompted calls from free speech activists -- and even some hackers -- for a cease-fire.

"In a protest or activist scenario, one would hope that one's cause and message were strong enough that 'shouting down' the opposing viewpoint is considered unnecessary,"-

and-"People wouldn't tolerate groups that burn down book shops or news agents that sell publications they don't agree with. They shouldn't tolerate the online equivalent,"-

A cease-fire. Hmmm. Sounds good to me. You think anyone in the Bush administration reads blogs? If only...
Wired News: Hackers Beat Up on Al-Jazeera
One thing I hate is the knee-jerk reactions of people on both sides of a war. Of course feelings are flaring but it just shows how childish the tit for tat game can be. Come on! Take a step back and try to figure out how we can ease tensions instead of antagonizing those with different viewpoints and ideals.

Economist.com | The environment
Military Conflict's Effect On The Environment
This article makes an interesting argument about War, Environment, and Man.
Look at this quote from the article:
"The people of Congo would doubtless prefer less anarchy, even if it meant fewer elephants. But the fact remains that when men are busy killing each other, nature sometimes gains".
Very interesting.

BBC NEWS | Science/Nature | Scientists urge rethink on war
I think this is important for everyone to read. Maybe people will write letters to our government asking them to pay attention to what the scientists are saying about the environmental effects of the war. If what they're saying turns out to be true, the cost of the war may well exceed the 75 billion dollars Mr. Bush is asking Congress to shell out. We all need to look at the " big picture".

Philadelphia Inquirer | 03/13/2003 | 'Survivor' contestant splits deaf community
It will be interesting to see how far Christy Smith will get on the show. I'm surprised that the other contestants are not so mindful that she doesn't have an interpreter. They don't even try to face her when they're speaking at times. Instead of focusing on what Christy is doing, or not doing, I think there's a lot to be said about how the other contestants are behaving towards her. Keep watching.

D-Day
Tom Friedman is a columnist for the NY Times. I saw him being interviewed by Tim Russert a couple of weeks ago. Out of all the "experts" I've heard covering the war, Mr. Friedman has taken on this debate with more clarity of thought than anyone. And believe me, I've watched CNN, MSNBC, FoxNews, Frontline, etc. Everyone should read more of what he has to say.
The Pope issued a statement yesterday saying, "Any country that wages war against Iraq without global consensus, must take responsibility before God, their conscience and history". This is well said. I must say that I am concerned when I hear President Bush tell the American people that all diplomatic options have been exhausted in dealing with Iraq. I just don't believe that this is true. While it is true that France, Russia and China must take some of the blame for the President's failure to bring the UN Security Council to vote with us, it must be said that these three countries were trying hard to make sure that we wouldn't take unilateral action against Iraq. Their position was not so much anti-American as it was anti-war. If what we were trying to do was just, it wouldn't have come down to this. The UN would have voted with us and just maybe we wouldn't be giving ourselves a black eye in the world community. I don't believe giving the inspectors more time was unreasonable.

By the way, the new polls that came out saying support is on the rise for the President's decision to go to war is incredible to me. I wonder who these pollsters are calling? Most people I know and hear about are not too thrilled about the U.S. going in without the UN. Just listen to what the people around the world are saying. I bet that if they were to poll the millions of people living in the big U.S. cities, those poll results would echo what people in the International community feel. Sure, Saddam must be dealt with, but it just shouldn't be done by shutting out the world community with American arrogance. God help us!
May God Bless everyone on the planet!
