Show lights up Paralympics!

BBC SPORT | Other Sport | Paralympics | Paralympic diary: Friday

BBC SPORT |Paralympic diary: Friday
"No Paralympics in the USA"
Isn't it an awful shame the Paralympic show has begun and we in America don't get to enjoy the festivities. I suppose there was not a lot of viewers when A & E showed an hour a day during the Salt Lake City Paralympic games in 2002. Itis funny, but after seeing the coverage of the games in 2002, I was convinced that it was the start of somthing new and exciting for the disability movement. Instead, that idea will have to wait.

It just baffles my mind as to why we cannot jump over the hurdle that keeps us out of the mainstream.
I know people in the nondisabled community, when watching these athletes compete, get as excited or more about these games as they do watching the olympics. Bottom line, as someone who lives with a disability, I was completely thrilled to see these athletes reaching for the gold!

BBC - Ouch! - From the Editor: Blind speed demons: NOT a story

Blind speed demons:
this is an interesting piece by BBC Ouch! Editor, Damon Rose. Although it is quite interesting how the press eats these stories up, I'm not so sure it causes too much damage. More about this later.
