Wired News: AOL's Monster Loss Really Adds Up There are many people who are sick of aol and have either left or are leaving. I know I'm growing tired of Time Warner's extravagant prices for cable TV. Maybe these losses will cause companies to rethink the way they do business with consumers. Who knows? Anybody?
Wired News: DirecTV DSL's Exit Limits Choices I don't use DSL, but it makes me wonder about the Cable giants. I'm not thrilled about my cable provider (for television and computer access). We need more alternatives, not less.

Wired News: Scientists Map Largest Chromosome The scientists identified 1,050 genes and gene fragments, among them more than 60 disease genes. Those include genes linked to early onset Alzheimer's, spastic paraplegia, NiemannPick disease and a severe form of Usher syndrome.
Although the accomplishment is noteworthy, it does not mean science is any closer to conquering Alzheimer's, said Bill Thies, vice president for medical and scientific affairs for the Alzheimer's Association in Chicago.
BBC NEWS | Science/Nature | Rare disease genes found The research could help scientists understand why some people are more likely to develop certain rare conditions including early onset Alzheimer's.

Wired News: It's a Lovely Day in Outer Space I find this to be fascinating. Just looking at the Sun you wouldn't think there are solar storms that affect the earth. After all, it looks like a constant ball of fire. Most people know that the Moon affects ocean currents. It only makes sense that the Sun would be a factor as well.
