Finally! A new wheelchair.

Well, well, well. After years of fighting Medicare, surgical supply companies and all those who participate in helping one find the right wheelchair, I finally got to sit in my new wheelchair at home. I actually brought it home from the wheelchair clinic last Thursday, but, of course, "Home Care Supply" had forgotten to bring the recharger to the clinic that day. But, hey, the wheelchair is here, and that's a good thing.

Now that the day is over, I realize there are many more adjustments that must be made. Don't get me wrong, tilt-in-space is a really cool feature. I'm able to cover my fiber optic cable buttons and suddenly the chair leans back as far as I want it. I then hit the reset button, and down it goes. Hit reset again and I can go forward, or in reverse. It's definitely going to take some getting used to. We may have to adjust the fiber-optic cables so I can drive better. Having the headrest is a wonderful thing, especially because my old wheelchair never had one. The only problem with this one is that you need an Allen wrench to adjust it. I'm going to have to look into one that you can flip up-and-down, back-and-forth (left-and-right). All in all, it was a good day. Let's see what tomorrow brings.
